Last week the Ford Government said that they would changing the education system by increasing class sizes from 22 to 28 students. This has gotten some very serious criticism from both students and teachers. I wouldn’t mind this if there wasn’t so many immature students that interfere with learning, but there are many disruptive people in classrooms. I would have increased the class sizes to 25 in the middle. This would save some teacher jobs and still have a lower class size which would make people happier. There is a reason that this is happening though, the debt of the province is out of control and one of the highest at 348.79 billion. There was probably a better way to get the debt under control. Either way this in my opinion was a good move but considering that these new voters in high school will be eligible to vote in the next Provincial election. This might make Ford lose lots of votes. Teachers will also be affected with about 3500 jobs being lost over the next 4 years. However, this is only about 3% of the entire teaching force of Ontario. In some cases I think that this is a smaller deal than people are making it to be. I think that this was a move that needed to be done considering the debt of the province. My argument to the students is this. In university or College, the class sizes can be 150 students listening to one teacher. So compared to this increase it will seem like nothing. As for some classes having to be E-Learning it is the way of the future and I think that it is good to educate students online so that they will know how to do that in the future. Sometimes in life you will have to teach yourself. My only concern about these education cuts is for technology classes and art classes. These could be cut and would make it more difficult for students to receive their technology credit or their art credit. I am pretty happy with the moves that Ford has made, but I would like some little details to be fixed such as art credit and keeping younger teachers instead of older teachers. Overall I do not think that if a students has a passion for their education that it will be affected in any way
This time Justin Trudeau may not come out so lucky. Justin Trudeau is now under a scandal concerning a Quebec company that was under a fraud investigation by former Attorney General Jodie Wilson-Raybould. It is a question if Justin Trudeau or someone close to him told Wilson-Raybould to stop the investigation for political reasons. This can be something to do with Justin Trudeau’s reelection or not wanting to lose even more jobs after the recent GM Oshawa closure. In anyway, this could be bad for Justin Trudeau’s reputation. Now there is a motive for Trudeau to do this and it is clear that he did not want this to go viral, which it did. Wilson-Raybould said that she was told to stop the investigation. She was concerned why she should and then resigned. She felt like it was obstruction of Justice. I feel like this would have really been bad for Trudeau either way but I think that this would have gone better if he let Wilson-Raybould continue to investigate and maybe shut down the employer and lose 9,000 Quebec jobs, where he thrives in support and probably likes to keep it that way. This now makes him very untrustworthy in my opinion to Canadians, who do not want to see their Prime Minister in a scandal. It is my opinion that this is a scandal dealing with campaigning more than it is him doing this out of nowhere. I believe that with all the pressure on Trudeau he decided to make a decision and it was probably the wrong one to make. This makes a lack of trust with voters who still haven’t decided who they are going to vote for come election day. Conservative leader Andrew Scheer has already called for the resignation of Justin Trudeau and he has a good point. Either way I think that this scandal is looking really good on Scheer. Even though Trudeau says it might have been a communication mistake, I believe Wilson-Raybould who said she was immediately told to stop the investigation. Trudeau also has motive, while Wilson-Raybould does not. This could hurt Trudeau more than he knows and he now has to make some very good moves and stay out of the media as much as possible to win. This election, in my opinion just got a whole lot closer with only 7 months left until election day.

Some people are very happy with the new Ford budget and others are left shocked. First of all Alcohol. You are now aloud to drink in public places and serve as early as 9am. You’re also aloud to buy alcohol in corner stores and grocery stores. I would not mind this for a bill, but the timing seems off. With education and health care issues pressing right now he chooses to resort to Alcohol. It is a good idea, but the timing is off. Another minimal change is to have a new license plates that say “A place to grow”. This is from the old slogan “yours to discover”. They also changed the official trillium logo of Ontario from the “three men in a hot tub, to a new look”. I like these changes but not the timing of them considering that there are more important things right now. The budget also introduced us to a child-care rebate for families with disabled children and children up to 16 years of age. In some cases the rebate can reach $6,000. For healthcare, 3.8 million dollars is focused on mental health, addiction and housing. This is a necessary part of the budget that is needed considering the ongoing opioid crisis that has claimed so many lives. There was also a dental program for low income seniors. However, ending hallway healthcare was missed in this budget, I was surprised to see that there was not a lot on this. There is also no new taxes that are introduced in this new budget which is something that is needed after another Liberal tax. There was also a 3.8 billion dollar reduction in corporate income taxes. In this budget the Conservatives are trying to save small businesses, which is the Conservative way. There was also another section on transportation adding or extending 4 lines of the TTC. This helps the environment by getting cars off the road. This budget also brought us the education cuts that have made people very upset about their children’s quality of education. I really liked how much money the government put into affordable housing and addiction. This is something that really effects families. Same with the child rebate program. Some things I didn’t like is the alcohol in the budget and the lack of ending hallway healthcare and investing in long term care beds.
While Justin Trudeau’s Liberals are in front in the party race right now by a slim margin the race for best person for the job has Justin Trudeau way out ahead. It was in January of 2018 when provincial leader Patrick Brown resigned due to sexual misconduct allegations during the #metoo movement. This when then a conspiracy that the Conservative party did this, but was never caught or convicted. The Federal Conservatives know that these polls say this, but there has been no sign of him retiring or leaving. This has been a problem for the Conservative Party showing a new poll shows 39% of people want Trudeau to win but only 36% want the Liberals to win. With 27% want Scheer to win while 35% want the Conservatives to win. This is a major concern for the Conservatives who have a shot of winning the Federal Election. I would say that Scheer has not have a clear platform on the environment, immigration and I feel like he is to close to Stephen Harper,which is a bad thing for Andrew Scheer. Scheer seems like he is just not the person that can be a Prime Minister to me and I think if the party wants to win, they need a different leader while there is still time. In this election the country is torn east to west. The west continues to say Scheer to Manitoba while the east says Trudeau from Ontario to the Atlantic Provinces. I think that it will be a close race to the finish, but Trudeau-Mania seems to strong. If Scheer wants to win he must be more friendly to people in the East and focus more on them for the time being. If Andrew can pull of the victory then it will be shocking to me. The problem with Scheer is that even Conservatives do not want to vote for him. The leader of the official opposition right now seems to weak to me and I don’t think that he seems ready to be Prime Minister. Another choice I think would have been better for the conservatives. In my opinion Scheer does not have a clear plan and is focusing to much on Justin Trudeau. 20% percent of Canadians are unsure who they want to be the next Prime Minister which is shocking. Scheer and Trudeau must try to get those last 20% to see who will be the next Prime Minister of Canada.
On October 19th 2015, Justin Trudeau won the 42nd Canadian Federal Election by a landslide over Stephen Harper of the Conservatives and Thomas Mulcair of the NDP. It was a Trudeau majority, which was expected. This was 4 years ago though, now Justin Trudeau is facing some problems and it looks like Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer is right behind him with NDP leader Jagmeet Singh in a distant third. Trudeau’s term in office has been okay I would say. I have liked his stance on the enviornment, but there is a lot of things that I would consider disappointing. The first thing that might be considered disappointing is that Justin Trudeau went on a trip to an island in the Bahamas with his family which cost 215,000 dollars. This was all paid by taxpayer money. Another thing is that Trudeau like the opioid crisis get way out of control. Finally, Trudeau was not able to get the trans-mountain pipeline working on time and so far construction hasn’t even started. Although there have been good steps with the environment and giving Immigrants a good chance with the recent U.S government the national debt of the country has gone way up and Forgetting to mention Alberta on Canada day. Sometimes, in my opinion he treats immigrants better than his citizens. I think that Justin Trudeau must prove himself loyal to Canada if he wants to win this upcoming election, and he must focus on looking like a stronger leader than Scheer and Singh. It is sometimes the image that people look for. This is coming at a time of crisis for Trudeau since there have been scandals upcoming and popularity for him has been declining. Still I don’t see any of these 3 candidates being a great Prime Minister. They must prove themselves to me and the whole country over the next 7 months. This election is proving to be a lot closer than the last and it will stay close. This time, Trudeau’s second time charm may not be enough to beet Scheer.
